The Case of Hood-Gorge

Hood Gorge is an Organization that centers around bringing tourism to the Mt Hood, Columbia River Gorge area. Visibility is key when it comes to tourism. We knew that this was going to be one of our biggest projects yet and so we developed a personalized strategy for them to help them bring up their visibility and create a loyal returning audience utilizing Website Design, Social Media, and the use of Landing Pages.

Here are some of the basics of the strategies we employed.

Website Design

This was one of our biggest websites. The design had to be beautiful and inviting like so many travels sites you see, but it also has to be very functional. Our job was to capture the essence of the Northwest and provide useful information about the region. The site was dynamic and mobile friendly, an important feature to a successful website. Google ranks websites higher if they are mobile friendly. 

Social Media

We knew we had to reach a fairly large local audience and one of our best tools for that is Social Media. Using a daily blog (7 days a week) we were about to draw people from Facebook to our site with fun and interesting information. We told the community about fun events in their communities, about restaurants, and about hotels they could visit. With the frequency of our posts, we were able to gain a large returning audience.

Landing Pages

The most important part of this project was creating landing pages users could return to for information about the area. We did this with pages that gave easy ready-made travel plans and destinations for visitors to hike, dine, ski, and wine-taste throughout the entire Hood-Gorge region. These pages directed them deeper into the website so they could learn more about the region and find the places they wanted to visit, and therefore had a lower bounce rate.
